実際、ほとんどのサイトは作者や会社のエゴでしかありません。文字をズラしたり、シャドウを付けた文字だったり、見た目を良くしてるのか知りませんが、読みづらいものがほとんどです。
あと、なんでもかんでも画像を使って、モバイル対応できていないサイトも多いです。横幅980pxでしか上手く見れない販売サイトで、どれだけものが売れるのでしょうか(笑)
表示速度の遅いサイト(jqueryを大量に使って重い)ものも、結局は表示されなくてユーザーは逃げていきます。これはもっとも損をしています。
単なる販売ページでは、javascript自体必要ありません。アクセスデータを取るには非同期のjavascriptか、サーバ側で対応したほうがいいでしょうね。
あとはcssでやるほうがいいです。
仕事の依頼で、販売ページを作ったことがありますが、依頼主と会社のエゴが強くて「アニメーションをたくさんいれたい」「画像をたくさん使いたい」「文書は読めなくてもいいから、フォントサイズ小さくしてカッコ良くしてほしい」とか。
なんのためのサイトなのかワケがわかりませんよね(笑)
ユーザーがそのサイトに求めるものを考えると、たいていの場合、フォントサイズは小さいより大きいほうがいいし、画像は多いより少ないほうがいいし、アイコンより文字で書かれたほうが分かりやすい(アイコンはサイトやアプリによって使われかたが違うので、ややこしい。ハンバーガーメニューは、他のアプリでは設定ボタンだったりする)。
検索ボタンも虫眼鏡より「検索」って書いたほうがクリック率高かったし(笑)
